Bad For Business: Secret Service + GoDaddy →
Analysis of this situation could scream that GoDaddy should have worked with JotForm.com to handle users that concerned the Secret Service. The Secret Service sounds like it was not accommodating in anyway. The saddest part of everything, I have to assume the most likely scenario because no one knows why a business was seized by the government.

Pinterest: A lesson on user friendly interface →
Pinterest seems to be an ever growing discussion I come across…well…everywhere. I always think to myself “they get it.” What I refer to is the fact Pinterest developers analyzed online user culture and figured out how to cut all extra steps/loop-holes/pages users have to jump through to achieve a goal or end result. Simply put; Pinterest mastered JQuery, Web Design,...

Efficiency of Social Media Marketing Results in... →
If this is not a sign of how much time we spend on the web today, I don’t know what is. Proctor and Gamble is massive. For P&G to cut marketing staff significantly, due to the changing times, makes me firmly believe such changes in strategy will trend in big corporations. Reaching your customers where they are in the most effective way. How can you replace a 1-to-1 interaction?

Magazine Subscriptions: Monthly Model vs Yearly... →
These are all thoughts I have entertained at one point or another for how to updated a dinosaur. The print industry’s subscription model and delivery methods, for the most part, do not meet the culture of “now.” I do wonder how various niche customers would handle such changes. What do you think?

DNS Blocking Struck From SOPA = FALSE
Many sources on the web are stating that the supporters backing the SOPA bill have announced that DNS blocking has been removed from said bill. However, other sources on the web are saying not so fast.
Several outlets, such as this article on Mashable.com, explain how the statement was made, “I feel we should remove DNS-blocking from the Stop Online Piracy Act so that the [U.S. House...

Critique: The Personalization of Google Search →
As this article explains how Google is changing search, I would like to ask Google to double check it incorporates op-out search options for targeted results. Google is a universal tool for me, thus being able to customize the search and have true relevant results is important. Though cool that Google’s search results can be “focused” on my interests or “focused” on...

SOPA Workarounds: Beat the System →
SOPA. The word that makes us cringe. I hope you have been active in singing petitions and writing law makers. I have signed several and heard back from my representatives, most of whom said they will support me and not back SOPA. Rand Paul has written me several times about the issue and stated how there are already laws in place to protect copyrights and other properties. I appreciate that.

13 Multimedia Points for 2012 →
These points are very true. We can offer the opportunity for experience, but the consumer/user/customer creates the experience. It also isn’t about print vs web it is about BOTH or ALL!!!! The struggle with print land that I often experience, is the red headed step child named digital. The best of all worlds, for the most complete and unique experience possible is what I am preaching.

After about a month, and a lot of reality checks, Netflix has decided to not split their business platform. Chris Voss expands on thoughts that I agree with. Read similar thoughts I shared first in a September 19th post here: http://webmc.tumblr.com/post/10406890020/qwikster-netflixs-answer

Facebook Reach, Publishers "Scolded" →
This excellent article highlights comments on how publishers are still under-utilizing the cost effective, targeted reach of Facebook. The article also touches on a larger common challenge I see in the publishing world. California State Sales Tax = Web vs Brick & Mortar →
This article describes how brick and mortar businesses are threatened by internet commerce. “The basis of the law comes from economic experts who predict that it will help brick-and-mortar stores with actual sales staffs compete more equally with e-commerce businesses…” It is interesting that eCommerce sites supposedly do not have support staff, according to experts. The beauty...

NetFlix is splitting businesses into two entities. NetFlix for streaming and Qwikster for DVD rentals with a new Video Game upgrade (like their Blu-Ray option). Google+ is apparently an identity service? →
If this was a card game of BS, I hope I am not taking the center pile. I am sure identity services are what they ‘envisioned’ in the meeting. Really though, I see Google knowing it is...

Government Enhances Social Habbit Monitoring →
The government is sifting through all public provided data that exists on the web, which isn’t against the law since we willingly provide these comments/content publicly.
What I do find violating is how the government is LURKING and not contributing to any of these social mediums and excuses itself from such culture. I argue it is legal to block government scanning of ‘public’...
